Safe Water
Water has many uses in a community like Kpilo
But just imagine, if the only water source available was several kilometres away, and the only way to get there was to walk under the hot daytime sun.
Clean water is also vital for the growing of crops, which is one of the sources of income for Kpilo. We have plans to install a water irrigation system to improve land productivity.
7 million people lack access to clean water in rural areas
22.2 million have no adequate sanitation facility
A quarter of deaths in under-5’s is due to diarrhoea
Diarrhoeal disease is the third most common illness in Ghana
Dirty water harbours diseases
Nasty bugs and worms live in dirty water. But this is often the only water available. There is no clean water supply in Kpilo.
